Courts of the Missing

The American Battle Monuments Commission dedicated the Courts of the Missing to the vast number of missing sailors, soldiers, airmen, and Marines memorialized at the National Memorial Cemetery of the Pacific. The original courts recorded the names of 26,306 service members lost in World War II and thousands more from the Korean War.

MIRA's scope demanded exacting tolerances and care — setting and preserving engraved stone panels, installing bronze rosettes marking those since accounted for, and protecting a site of deep meaning to families and veterans throughout the work.
